Jingoists ( Storage Hunters – Sports Memorabilia bid )

Sports jingoism.. A lot of money to be made here, why care which team? Its a SPORTS TEAM! they dont represent anything right or wrong. To take to litteral hate of other teams for no other real reason than they are "not my team"? Why? The guy who won the bid is not a victim to this mentality or maybe money just means more to him.. But what can you say of some of these other people and his wife? The groupthink "my team, your team", mentality, can be fun on a superficial level but when its taken to the practical or the fundamental level its pathetic.. Compare and contrast sports team pride, city pride, state pride, national pride, Left versus Right, ethnic pride, cultural pride.. Lets learn to view from a culturally neutral light. In the light of the human race as a whole, in the light of equality and liberty, we see how silly some of this crap can be. Clip is from episode 1×7.

History Of American Football

The history of American football can be traced to early versions of rugby football and association football. Both games have their origins in varieties of football played in the United Kingdom in the mid-19th century, in which a ball is kicked at a goal and/or run over a line. Many games known as football were being played at colleges and universities in the United States in the first half of the 19th century.

The popularity of collegiate football grew as it became the dominant version of the sport for the first half of the twentieth century. Bowl games, a college football tradition, attracted a national audience for collegiate teams. Bolstered by fierce rivalries, college football still holds widespread appeal in the US.

The origin of professional football can be traced back to 1892, with William Pudge Heffelfinger’s $500 contract to play in a game for the Allegheny Athletic Association against the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. The first Professional league was the Ohio League, formed in 1903, and the first Professional Football championship game was between the Buffalo Prospects and the Canton Bulldogs in 1919.

American football resulted from several major divergences from rugby football, most notably the rule changes instituted by Walter Camp, considered the Father of American Football. Among these important changes wwas the introduction of the line of scrimmage and of down-and-distance rules. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, game play developments by college coaches such as Eddie Cochems, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Knute Rockne, and Glenn Pop Warner helped take advantage of the newly introduced forward pass.

In 1920, the American Professional Football Association was formed. The first game was played in Dayton, Ohio on October 3, 1920 with the host Triangles defeating the Columbus Panhandles 14–0. The league changed its name to the National Football League (NFL) two years later, and eventually became the major league of American football. Initially a sport of Midwestern industrial towns in the United States, professional football eventually became a national phenomenon. Football’s increasing popularity is usually traced to the 1958 NFL Championship Game, a contest that has been dubbed the Greatest Game Ever Played. A rival league to the NFL, the American Football League (AFL), began play in 1960; the pressure it put on the senior league led to a merger between the two leagues and the creation of the Super Bowl, which has become the most watched television event in the United States every year.

Strategy of the game.

Because the game stops after every down, giving teams a chance to call a new play, strategy plays a major role in football. Each team has a playbook of dozens to hundreds of plays. Ideally, each play is a scripted, strategically sound team-coordinated endeavor. Some plays are very safe; they are likely to get only a few yards. Other plays have the potential for long gains but at a greater risk of a loss of yardage or a turnover.

The defense also plans plays in response to expectations of what the offense will do. For example, a blitz (using linebackers or defensive backs to charge the quarterback) is often attempted when the team on defense expects a pass. A blitz makes downfield passing more difficult but exposes the defense to big gains if the offensive line stems the rush. Many hours of preparation and strategizing, including film review by players and coaches, go into the days between football games. This, along with the demanding physicality of football is why teams typically play at most one game per week.

Generally speaking, rushing plays are less risky than passing plays. However, there are relatively safe passing plays and risky running plays. To deceive the other team, some passing plays are designed to resemble running plays and vice versa. These are referred to as play-action passes and draws, respectively. There are many trick or gadget plays, such as when a team lines up as if it intends to punt and then tries to run or pass for a first down. Such high-risk plays are a great thrill to the fans when they work. However, it can be a disaster if the opposing team realizes the deception and acts accordingly.

Fundamental Skills Required For Soccer Training

As with any type of training for a game in sports, soccer training requires some fundamental skills. These skills can be cultivated many different ways. One of the most popular methods is through observing the skill that you wish to acquire. Once you understand the basic concept of the skill, you should put your knowledge to work by trying it yourself. Generally, the skill must be practiced repeatedly in order to be mastered. Many people use the concept of visualization in order to perfect a particular soccer skill. Here, you will learn about the many fundamental skills required for soccer training.

The most important thing to understand when it comes to soccer training is that a player is successful when they become accustomed to a certain motion that they perform. As the soccer player continues to practice the skill in which they are trying to acquire, they quickly gain confidence in their abilities. This is the second most important concept to master when attempting to acquire soccer skills…confidence. If you are confident in your ability to perform the skill, and continue to practice during soccer training, you will master the skill quickly.

In soccer training, it is essential to acquire the skill of kicking. There are two basic types of kicks that are used in the game of soccer. One is referred to as the “ground kick”, and the other is called the ‘volleys kick”. These particular kicks in the soccer game are established by how the ball is positioned on the ground. When you focus on the skill of kicking, it is important that you also practice balance and the stance of your body. This is the secret behind successful kicks in soccer training.

The next essential skill required in soccer training is being able to control the ball. If you are unable to control the ball, the entire team will suffer tremendously. There are a few moves that will allow you to control the ball effectively during soccer training. These moves include the inside cut, cut under body, and the outside cut. It is important that your coach reviews these moves with you so that you can get in plenty of practice performing them!

During soccer training, you will be required to learn the skill of heading. This is the process by which you use the upper side of the forehead in order to create an assortment of “heading” techniques for greater control of the ball. The most popular techniques include the following: diving, standard, glancing, and flick. Your soccer coach will accurately describe all of these heading techniques so that you can master this particular skill in your training regime.

Dribbling is another necessary skill that should be acquired during soccer training. There are many different kinds of dribbles. These include: cone, basic, intermediate, and advanced. You may learn about the cruyff move, fake kick move, nutmeg move, stepover move, and more during this part of your soccer training. While there are many methods of dribbling, these remain among the most popular choices in soccer games.

There are many fundamental skills required for soccer training. This article outlines the most basic. If you have any questions or concerns about these moves, or how to perform these moves, you should work carefully with your coach during soccer training. The coach will aid in your overall development as a master soccer player.

Sports Past Childhood

How Sports Can Help College Funds

Whether you play soccer or swim, there are always opportunities for your specific sport, waiting around every corner.  Even if you don’t want to consider sports for a lifetime, continuing to play can be a good way to add on potential opportunities to get through college.  There are several ways to use a sport in order to get a college scholarship, allowing more opportunities to open up for the beginning of your career.

If you have been playing a sport seriously, you will definitely have the ability to gain a scholarship off of it.  Even if you aren’t considering a sports profession, this is an easy way to stay in sports, even after you leave home.  The first step in doing this is to find which colleges you want to go to.  You will need to submit an athletic profile for coaches to look at and see where you are at with the sport that you are playing.  This will give the schools an idea of the different interests, the history of playing and how you have grown in the sport.

If the coach likes the profile you have sent, a sports recruiting coach will be sent to visit you.  Most likely, they will want to see how well you play the game that you are in.  This will help them to make an informed decision about whether you should be in their program or not.  If they like how you play the game, they will most likely offer you a specific amount of money for college.  The only requirement will be to play on one of their competitive teams during the season.

If you want to find an easy and pleasant way to get through college, then using your sports abilities can be one of the advantages for you.  By working towards meeting the requirements it takes to get a scholarship, and continuing to improve your skills, you will have the ability to make money to provide you with an education.  This will allow you to keep playing while gaining more knowledge for a career.

History Of Sports Medicine

Sports medicine was initially coordinated in the ancient areas of Greece and Rome where many of the young athletes were not being properly trained.  Striving to improve this training and provide better overall supervision of the young athlete’s physical education was designed.  This coordination of physical education was used to help increase the strength and abilities of the athletes in a carefully controlled way, which would allow their progress to be carefully monitored.

In events as far back as the 5th century, it is possible to notice distinct training to help discourage injuries starting with such people as Herodicus, whom is credited with using therapeutic exercise to help heal injuries, and also Galen who was a doctor that was assigned to monitor the gladiators of the 2nd Century.  Previous attempts at using a doctor for preventative training was largely ignored with physicians and doctors only being used in the event that an injury did occur.

However, despite these efforts it was not until many years later that Sports Medicine itself was actually conceived.  During the 1928 Olympics, which were held in St. Moritz a small committee was formed with the task of organizing the International Congress of Sports Medicine.  Upon this concept, the idea of using actual doctors to help prevent the occurrence of injuries was brought to light.  Starting in 1968 during the Summer Olympics, which were held in Mexico City, Dr. J.C. Kennedy organized a team of doctors that was to travel with the Canadian athletes to ensure they were well cared for.

In addition, Dr. Kennedy became the founder of the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine.  Additionally, Dr. Kennedy earned the honor of being appointed to be the Chief Medical Officer for the first medical team to be officially associated with the Olympics in the 1972 Summer Olympics that were held in Munich, Germany.  This was a task that proved even the Olympics were starting to place value in the idea of sports medicine.

As time has progressed the involvement of physicians and doctors in more than just treatment of injuries has increased.  Many athletes see doctors regularly for check ups and testing to ensure that they are in the best physical shape possible, while still achieving the athletic goals that they desire.  While the use of a sports medicine team by many is still considered a luxury, for others it is an essential aspect of being a responsible athlete.

As the amount of care provided to athletes before injuries occur has increased, the number of injuries that are being treated has decreased which leads to a better quality of life for many athletes.  Deciding to be proactive in the treatment options of athletes is part of what sets sports medicine apart from many other fields.  Rather than waiting until an injury occurs, sports medicine aims to continuously minimize the risk to athletes to achieve the best results.

Sports medicine has come a very long way in recent years, and continued research and growth in the field is abundantly clear.  Most athletic teams travel with a team of doctors, and most athletes particularly professionals are all eagerly willing to work with a well qualified sports medicine team to improve their health.  From reduced injuries to improving performance results, the field of sports medicine has made incredible progress since the beginnings in Ancient Rome and Greece.
